Cirrus (KIT)

built by Lyndon Anderson

Cirrus technical specs.

Lyndon Anderson - Ottawa Canada - but really an Australian. The plans and instructions provided by Vaclav were excellent. Having done repairs on fibreglass kayaks, but never actually making one from scratch, the instructions were easy to follow and at no time during the construction was I concerned about the next step. The kayak took just under 12 months to build, not bad considering several of those months the temperature was below freezing - not good for glassing. I changed several small aspects of the kayak, but the plans are simple enough to allow you to add and change to suit your requirements. So how did it go? The maiden voyage was in the 1000 Islands, the border of Canada and US, winds to 15 knots and waves to 2 feet - not harsh conditions, but the kayak performed admirably. It held a straight course, reacted very well to leaned turns and was easy to roll. I now have more kayaks than I will admit to my wife - but I think this is my favourite!
