Are credit card orders from this site safe?

A lot of people are still a little bit skeptical about using their credit card to buy things on the Internet.
First of all, the online order forms on this site are equipped with SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption, the industry standard for online security. Unlike "normal" web page forms, the contents that are transferred to and from the order page can't be "overheard" by others. The information is scrambled using the latest encryption standards and it stays only between you and the card processing network.

As of May 20th 2001 on-line Credit Card orders can be placed in two ways:

  • The One Ocean Kayaks Web Store - real time, secure card processing through AuthorizeNet secure gateway.

  • The Kagi store - The online order is handled by a company called Kagi, who has been processing online payments for Internet vendors for many years. Technically speaking, Kagi is an "on-line web store" that carries products from many vendors and collects payments on their behalf. Practically speaking and from One Ocean Kayaks perspective, Kagi is a "credit card processor" and as such they can accept other types of credit cards in addition to VISA, Master, AMEX and Discover. Other cards processed (Optima, Diners Club, Cart Blanche, JCB, Eurocard)

    Use Kagi ONLY if your order will not go through the One Ocean Kayaks Web Store or are ordering in foreigh currency from outside of the USA. Kagi can currently process payments in US$, Euros, Australian $, Canadian $, Japanese Yen, and Great Britain pounds.


How does online ordering work?

When you order items using the online order form, your order and all the details are Encrypted and sent through the secure network for Credit Card validation and security check. The order is then emailed to me, and I ship the items and take care of the rest. You will receive an email receipt of the order as well. Your credit card and all billing information stays secure at all times!

  How long does it take to process the order?

Although online ordering is far faster than the traditional 'mail order catalog' , it is by no means instantaneous.

 When I receive your order, I assemble it and ship it out in 1 to 3 days. The majority of orders that are sent by US Mail are sent the next day.

Depending on your location and the shipping option, the order is then in the hands of US Mail ( 2-3 days for US Priority Mail).
